I teach math to over 100 sixth graders at a K-8 center. Our school is classified by the federal government as a 'high poverty' / 'Title I' school. It is in the restaurant district of a popular Florida resort. This project will help with two challenges that face our students. First, the need to make wise decisions about diet. Many of our children are overweight. They take little exercise and eat too much junk food. Second, they find advanced math pretty irrelevant to their daily needs.
