My students are an incredible diverse group who speak a total of 7 languages: Vietnamese, Tagalog, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Finnish, and English. They attend a public school in California that serves K-6 and more than 40% qualify for either free or reduced cost school lunch. I have students who have just arrived from another country and speak almost no English. My students are sweet, curious, and bright. The majority are from caring families. Their parents' education range from no formal education to Masters degrees.
