Most of my students have parents who struggle to provide food and clothing for their families, so, understandably, luxuries like learning technology aren't high on their list of priorities. As a reading teacher, I sincerely believe that books have the the power to change lives. These kids will not succeed if I do not show them that success is attainable, and that they have the power to do anything. Having tablets for my lowest performing, but hardest working students, is a necessity. Tablets will provide them with hands on reading experiences that will pull them into the material and motivate them to become involved in the reading process rather than just watching from the sidelines.
